Profile of MBC Board and Senior Management

 

Mr Moonendra Nudhi Sharma (Anooj) Ramsurrun, Acting Director General
Mr Moonendra Nudhi Sharma (Anooj) RAMSURRUN has been assigned the duties of Deputy Director-General (DDG) of the MBC since 01 June 2017.  Having moved up through several operational and management layers of the MBC since more than 29 years now, he has a wide experience in conception, design and execution of Graphics Animation of public broadcasting. His contribution has been useful in maximising new technologies and giving value added product with the paradigm shift in work methodology as a result of digitalisation. Having been the Secretary of the Mauritius Broadcasting Services Staff Association (MBSSA) from June 2011 to February 2015, he is not only well-conversant in trade union operations but is also well-positioned in the promotion of staff welfare. Mr Ramsurrun holds a Degree in Political Science (Institute of Management & Technical Studies - Delhi, India) and a Diploma in Educational Television, Programme Production and Direction (Deutsche Welle Television Training Centre, Berlin, Germany), in addition to possessing several certificates in Computer Graphics, Video and Computer Animation from national and international institutions.

 

Mr. Beejhaye Ramdenee, Chairman
Mr. Beejhaye Ramdenee was appointed as Chairperson of the MBC Board on 22 May 2017.  He is currently the Chief Strategy Officer of RNT International Ltd, a global business advisory group with offices in Mauritius, India, South Africa and Switzerland. He has over 30 years of cross-border experience in General Management and has worked for best - in - class companies in Mauritius, UK, Germany, parts of Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. He holds a BSc. in Marketing Management from the US, a Higher Diploma in Marketing from the UK and has completed post-graduate studies in all fields of management. Beejhaye Ramdenee was also an independent Director of SICOM General Insurance Ltd until September 2017.

Mr Vijay Chandreeka Ah Ku, Board Member

Mr Vijay Chandreeka Ah Ku was appointed as a Memberon the MBC Board on 27 May 2016. He reckons over 40 years’ teaching experience in Mauritius and abroad. He is currently the Rector/ Administrator of a secondary school.He has a proven and extensive track record in various social, academic and economic institutions. He holds a BSc (Biochemistry), from Punjab University, which is one of the topmost ranked Indian Universities on the World University Ranking. He also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the Mauritius Institute of Education (MIE) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education Management (PGDEM) with distinction from the Mauritius Institute of Education (MIE). He is currently a Committee Member of the Mauritius Economic Society, a Committee Member of the Mauritius Secondary Schools’ Sports Association (MSSSA) and is also the President of the Association of Rectors of Private Secondary Schools of Mauritius.

Mr Lutchmeeparsad Ramdhun, Board Member

Mr Lutchmeeparsad Ramdhun was appointed representative of the Government Information Service on the MBC Board in July 2014. He currently serves as Director, Information Services, at the Government Information Service in the Prime Minister's Office. After studying Journalism at the London School of Journalism, UK, he joined the Government Information Service, which was then Ministry of Information, as Trainee Information Officer in December 1985. He has a long career in the Civil service, reckoning more than 30 years of extensive experience in the field of mass communication. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication.

Mr Rama Krishna Veeramundur, Board Member

Mr Rama Krishna (Rudy) VEERAMUNDAR is Senior Adviser to the Hon Prime Minister and is also Director of Communication at the Communication Cell at the Prime Minister’s Office. He has an extensive experience in Journalism and communication. He was appointed as a Member of the MBC Board on 22 May 2017.

Associate Professor Shafick Osman, Board Member

Associate Professor Shafick Osman holds a PhD/Doctorat in Geopolitics from Paris-Sorbonne University (obtained with the highest merits), a DEA in Geopolitics (Marne-la-Vallée) and a Master's Degree in Media & Communications (Lyons). He is an Associate Professor at the Université des Mascareignes, in charge of the School of Geopolitics which he set up. He left in May 2015. Since February 2017, Dr S.K.M Osman is a Research Associate at the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs, Florida International University (Miami, USA). Dr S.K.M Osman has some 24 years' experience in journalism, media management, and corporate/organizational communications, social communication/awareness-raising, publishing, educational reforms, company directorship, and geopolitical analysis, consultancy in sustainable development/management, gender and political issues. Dr S.K.M Osman is an expert on the Geopolitics of the Republic of Mauritius and has traveled extensively and worked in the South-West Indian Ocean Islands. He is also a member of the Indian Ocean Research Group Inc. (Australia), a Deputy Editor in Chief of 'Outre-Terre' (France) and a Peer Reviewer for the Journal of the Indian Ocean Region (JIOR, Routledge, Taylor & Francis). He is also a member of the Society for Indian Ocean Studies (New Delhi)."

Mr Avinash Venkama, Board Member

Mr Avinash Venkama was appointed as a Member on the MBC Board on 27 May 2016. He is a professional in the field of Marketing. He started his career as Marketing Assistant in 2005, and quickly advanced to the positions of Advertising Executive and Brand coordinator in highly reputed agencies within two years. From 2006 to 2009, he held senior positions such as Head-Corporate Communications and Public Relations & Communication Manager in two companies. He furthered his academic qualifications and strengthened his entrepreneur skills in India from June 2012 to June 2014, where he set up several start-ups in different lines/ Markets. He has been offering his services as Project Head on a consultancy basis to the United Nations/ European Union/ Switch Africa Green since November 2015. He holds a Higher National Diploma in Integrated Marketing Communications & Specialization in Brand Management, from De Chazal du Mée Business School (now Charles Telfair), a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration, Specialization- Marketing, from MIT school of Distance, Education- Pune, and a Masters in Business Administration, Specialisation- Marketing, from MIT School of Distance Education, Pune. He is currently doing his LLB with the University of London.
